File Transfer Protocol (FTP) in Macintosh
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) on Macintosh:
- First, you need to obtain an FTP program.
- We suggest Fetch for Macintosh.
- Download Fetch by clicking on the link above and follow the installation instructions.
- Open Fetch from the directory you installed it to.
- You will be prompted to enter a New Connection.
- Host: ftp.w-link.net
- User ID: your username
- Password: your password
- Directory: /home/yourusername/public_html
- Click OK to connect.
- To upload files, click on Put File..., select the file you want to upload, and click Open.
- To download files, click on the file you want to download and click on Get File. You will be prompted to specify
where to save the file; choose the directory you want to keep it and click Save.
- Be sure to leave the radio button set to Automatic, not Text or Binary.
- See the picture below for a sample of what Fetch looks like.
For Domain Name Clients:
Use the same directions above, but substitute the following information:
- Host: www.w-link.net
- Directory: /httpd/htdocs/yourdomain
